Back to School Guide: Command Center/Homework Center

Welcome to my 2018 Back to school guide!! This week I will be sharing products, organization tips and more! Today, I will be chatting about our command center {s} and our homework center!

Molly is  going into 2nd grade this year, which is absolutely insane! As excited as we are, of course there’s a lot to be done. Living in New York, we don’t start school until September so I have time but having a newborn I have been trying to get things situated a time presents itself!
We don’t have a huge house, but I like to have a nice homework area for her once school starts. She usually does homework in our dining room so I keep some products on our hutch that she can just go right to! This is her summer caddy. I keep her workbooks, markers, crayons and colored pencils so she has them all in the same place. For the beginning of the year I add a stapler, tons more pencils, highlighters and erasers.

Next, I have a SCHOOL command center which is near my front door. Its summer time, but usually her specials schedule is hanging here as well as her bus schedule and her jackets/backpack. I find this SUPER convenient to have by our front door so everything is in one spot. It has been working for the past two years, so I am going to stick with it!
Finally, we have MY command center. This calendar and weekly list is by Denise Albright. I just purchased some double sided magnets to hang out the fridge. I like having a monthly display as well as weekly. I will eventually have my meal plan on the weekly spread as well. When school starts, I hang all of the important papers under or over these because I look at them daily. Its a good reminder!!

I hope you enjoyed my command centers! If you have any good ideas I would love to hear them below!!

  1. Great ideas! We have a dry erase calendar mounted in the kitchen so we can easily see our month. I love the homework caddy idea…we'll definitely need to have one when the kids are older and in school!!

  2. It’s hard for me to stay consistent if I don’t do small things like these!! School she is tough. I’m sure I’m going to have a harder time because I have a newborn now!! Thanks for commenting!! How old are your kids?
