National STEM Day!! Microduino: Itty Bitty Buggy Review

Did you know National STEM day is today, November 8th! If you aren’t familiar with what STEM is, its Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. I love anything that has to do with STEM. It’s so important for kids to learn this way, and Microduino is doing just that!! STEM toy company Microduino just launched its newest five-in-one maker kit called the Itty Bitty Buggy (at only $59.99!) to introduce kids to fun, simplified coding.

“Play, creativity, and coding combine with the Itty Bitty Buggy – the newest in the next generation of 2018 STEM Education toys from Microduino. The fun, versatile, and affordable coding programmable toy (CPT) is designed for creators from as young as eight to more seasoned makers. The Itty Bitty Buggy allows kids to build and program four different, interesting creatures – the Sloth, the Ladybug, the Dodo bird, and the Alien – using the foundational base buggy. “

Molly did this with her Dad, while I was at an event and my did they have fun!

Packed with a rich, fun-filled feature set, the Itty Bitty Buggy kit includes Bluetooth, remote control, voice-control, line tracing, musical color recognition, and LEGO®-compatible pieces, providing users with endless design possibilities and playful configurations. As coding skills become more advanced, users can program and modify the behaviors of a specific creature using a variety of coding languages, including Scratch, Python, and Arduino.”

The Itty Bitty Buggy includes a core module, Buggy body, basic building blocks package, music map, USB cables, and a connector wire. Available on Microduinoinc.com and Amazon.com

This is the central “hub” which you build off of.

”  There are so many ways to play with each creature! The Itty Bitty Buggy comes with four modes: Ranger, Cruiser, Voice Control, and Musician. Different modes can be applied to the individual creatures via the Itty Bitty Buggy free App for iOS and Android devices. Users can begin by building the base buggy and set it up to “cruise” around the black line and play music in the color zone on the included map. Then, build upon the base buggy to create the other creatures and explore all the exciting capabilities that each one can offer. Creators can remotely control the movements of the Sloth and use its long, modular arms to move across a rope or enable the Dodo Bird to flap its wings. “

They built the Dodo bird.

Just download the App on your smart phone and play away! I am almost sure my husband had just as much fun, if not more fun than Molly!

Happy STEM Day!! This is for sure going into my Holiday Gift Guide, which you will see soon! Thank you Microduio for sending us this fun and educational toy!
